Hamas is scheduled to meet with Palestinian factions in Gaza Tuesday to discuss the recent escalation in attacks by Israel, senior Hamas leader Ayman Taha said.
Taha told Ma’an the factions would discuss how to respond to the increased violence against Gaza, and said Hamas would commit to whatever decision was reached. The meeting was not necessarily to discuss the ceasefire, but to evaluate the whole situation, he said.
"Other factions might suggest other tactics which Hamas might accept and commit to."
The Palestinian Popular Struggle Front confirmed receiving an invitation from Hamas to attend a meeting in Gaza City to discuss how to confront the increased tension.
"The real response to Israeli crimes is by ending rivalry and closing the ranks to restore national unity," spokesman of the Popular Struggle Front Anwar Jum'a said in a statement.
