Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lauded the intelligence ministry for its vigilance and power in foiling enemies' plots against the country, and said that the ministry has become a relying point for the Supreme Leader.
"The intelligence ministry forces have turned into a center of trust and confidence for the Supreme Leader (of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) in the Islamic establishment," Ahmadinejad said Tuesday night.
He pointed to the constant change in the methods and equipments used by the security and intelligence agencies round the world, and said the Iranian intelligence ministry should update its equipment and move towards using new tactics and methods for fulfilling its missions.
"Today we can no more fulfill an intelligence task through old methods since many situations and conditions of the world and even the countries' laws have changed," Ahmadinejad said.
Senior Iranian officials and legislators have always reiterated Iran's intelligence supremacy over the enemies' moves and espionage operations in the region, saying that the Iranian intelligence forces' successful operations against CIA and Mossad operatives in recent years prove the superiority of the Iranian side.
"The hawk-eyed Iranian intelligence forces are monitoring all US moves in the region. Our security and intelligence forces defuse many US plots, but they don't usually make a relevant public announcement," Head of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi told FNA in May.
