Would Hamas be hurt if we forgot its anniversary?

Tens of thousands of people rallied in central Gaza city on Saturday to mark the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas's 20th anniversary.

Waving green flags and banners, throngs of Palestinians poured into Katiba Square ahead of the rally at which the Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya and other officials were expected to speak.

Hamas television said that supporters streamed in from towns and villages all across the coastal territory, home to some 1.5 million people.

A huge banner reading "We Will Not Recognise Israel" was placed on the backdrop of the stage.

Senior Hamas member Saeed Siam told reporters that the massive turnout is the answer to those who say Hamas is losing ground.

Top Hamas Leader Mahmud al-Zahar said that "Our message to the world is that this movement cannot be destroyed."

"This celebration shows how in 20 years we have grown from a movement of 1,000 people to huge numbers," he told reporters.

After "twenty years of building... the roots (of Hamas) stretch into the heart of the nation and into every part of the land," Mushir al-Masri, a former parliamentarian told the crowd from the podium.

"Twenty years -- from the stone to the knife, from the bullet to the bomb, from the mortar to the rocket, and from the martyrdom operations to the tunnels of hell," he added.

Curiously, that little recap of Hamas history seems to neglect the social services aspect.

Hamas's Political Bureau Chief Khaled Meshaal said in comments published on the movement's website on Saturday that the Palestinians are capable of launching a new uprising against the Zionist regime's occupation like the Intifadas of 1987 and 2000.

"Our people are capable of launching a third or fourth Intifada until victory is ours," he added.

That possible "third or fourth Intifada" is the theme of another current IRIB headline.

Physical Education Organisation of Iran meets chairman of Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission of North Korea

Phys-ed against Imperialism!

The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK gave a reception for the visiting delegation of the Physical Education Organisation of Iran at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Tuesday.

Present there on invitation were members of the delegation led by Mohammad Ali Abadi, chairman of the organisation who is vice-president of Iran, and Charge d'Affaires a.i. Hamid Reza Sadegh and staff members of the Iranian embassy here.

On hand were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the SPA, Mun Jae Dok, chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, and officials concerned.

Speaking at the reception, Yang Hyong Sop stressed that the traditional relations of friendship between the two countries whose foundation was laid by President Kim Il Sung together with Iranian leaders have invariably developed on good terms.

He highly appreciated the great efforts exerted by the Iranian government and people to protect the dignity and sovereignty of the country and achieve regional peace and security.

The head of the delegation said that the friendly relations between Iran and the DPRK provided by the great leaders of the two countries have developed in various fields.

He expressed conviction that the Korean people would emerge victorious in the future, too, in the struggle against imperialism while adhering to independence and principle.

Iran will strive to boost cooperation with the DPRK in the field of sports, he stressed.

IRNA: Iran disagrees with NIE

If NIE is true, then Iran is lying about its nuclear program. Have a nice day.

Iran has never been seeking nuclear weapons, Minister of Defense Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said on Monday.

The minister made the remarks in a meeting with a number of his ministry's senior officials.

"Iran has never been pursuing a program to develop nuclear weapons as it is against the country's religious, humanitarian and defensive doctrines," stressed the minister while directly referring to a report released by the US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on December 3.

The report, provided by 16 US intelligence agencies, claimed, "Iran had put its bid to build a nuclear bomb on hold in 2003." The claim was made to prevent further humiliation of officials of the Bush administration.

'Toons for Nukes

In its previous cartoon contest, the Islamic Republic invited contestants to make fun of the Holocaust. Obviously pleased with the results, the IRI is once again wielding the cartoonist's pen or brush against the World Arrogance, this time in defense of its eminently peaceful nuclear program:

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) invites cartoonists from all over the world to participate in its caricature contest.

Artists can submit their original pictorial satires on the theme of 'US Policy toward Iran's Nuclear Program'.

There is no limit on the number of items each artist can submit to the Festival, but none of the items should have been submitted to any other competition.

The first three winners will be awarded 1500, 1000, and 800 euros respectively. The 10 top cartoons will receive certificates.

Digital artworks should be sent via e-mail or on Compact Disc. The files should be sent in JPEG or GIF format with resolutions of at least 300 DPI.

Non-digital A4-size artworks should be sent via express mail. Non-digital artworks will not be returned.

The deadline for receipt of all entries is Dec. 21st, 2007.

Tehran Times: "Paleocons of the Henry Kissinger school" behind "every backwards, intolerant movement that calls itself Islamic"

But those Paleocon schemes are going to be foiled by "Neo-Andalucians." That rhetoric is bound to make Spain deliriously happy. Via Mehr News:

There is a general reawakening taking place in the Islamic world.

A number of groups are associated with this reawakening and one of them is the Neo-Andalucian movement, which is a progressive pan-Islamic movement.

They use the appellation Neo-Andalucian because Muslim Andalucia was a center of learning and, at least for a time, a very tolerant place where Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived in peace and harmony for the most part.

Muslim scholars like Ibn Arabi and non-Muslim scholars like Maimonides arose in Andalucia.

Islam teaches Muslims to seek out knowledge and to be tolerant toward non-Muslims who are not at war with Islam.

Also, the fall of Andalucia in 1492 marked the beginning of the 500-year decline of the Islamic world.

The Neo-Andalucians want to start an Islamic revival to end this 500-year decline, hence the identification with Andalucia.

Of course, the ideal Islamic state was Medina during the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his household).

However, we don’t have the Prophet now, just as the Andalucians didn’t have the benefit of the presence of the Prophet.

This is a parallel between modern times and the era of Muslim Andalucia.

The Neo-Andalucians are seeking to start a new Islamic Renaissance, unite the Islamic world, and uplift the oppressed Muslim masses.

Since the U.S. neoconservatives are enemies of Islam, many people believe there will be a clash between the neocons and the Neo-Andalucians.

However, the neocons are the straw dogs of the paleocons, who will discard the neocons when they have outlived their usefulness.

The real clash will be between the Neo-Andalucians and the paleocons of the Henry Kissinger school of realpolitik.

The paleocons view any progressive pan-Islamist movement as a serious threat.

As a matter of fact, the spies of the paleocons have been providing covert support to every backwards, intolerant movement that calls itself Islamic in order to sully the image of Islam.

They are doing this in a futile attempt to hinder the expansion of Islam.

In the United States alone, over five million people have converted to Islam over the past 40 years, and many people are converting to Islam in the rest of the world, too.

This is a nightmare for the enemies of Islam, who are trying to make all the people in the world atheist as part of their plan for global hegemony.

The paleocon globalists know that a people cut off from their religious and cultural roots are easily controlled.

This is why the paleocons fear Islam and the strong faith of the Muslims.[...]

On Bill Clinton's Blackness

America's increasing fascination with trans-racial figures manifested itself recently in Andrew Young's comments about Bill Clinton's trans-racial odyssey. As is well-known, the intelligence-enhancing properties of melanin were first noted by figures such as Leonard Jeffries. As Melanin theorist Wade Nobles has observed:

. . . the root of the family continued its path and not only evolved a central nervous system but developed what I called at that time an essential melanic system. And that I even went so far as to try to develop a little formula and suggested that CNS + EMS = HB. CNS (Central Nervous System) + EMS (Essential Melanic System) = HB (Human Being). That the central nervous system combined with the essential melanic system is what makes you human. That, in fact, to be human is to be Black. To be human is to be Black.

The program to develop the long sought-after Artifical Essential Melanic System led to several notable backfires, particularly the unfortunate incident involving Don Imus, which is now believed to have resulted from improperly monitored melanin injections. The relative success of Clinton's transformation can perhaps be attributed to the high-quality melanin he received, some of it reputed to have been harvested after one of the many operations on Michael Jackson, the first trans-racial, trans-gender, trans-fidel figure.

It is not known whether Hilary and Bill pursued medical trans-racism as a couple, but certain incidents have fueled speculation in this regard. Presidential-hopeful Mitt Romney is reputed to also have a predilection to volunteer for medical trials and reportedly hopes to one day be the deity of his own planet. In any event, the upcoming change in occupancy at the White House should prove interesting.

MPAC-UK: "Ex-Italian President: Intel Agencies Know 9/11 An Inside Job"

Their source is here. I suppose MPAC can claim that this is simply an item of interest, but c'mon, we know they are impressed by the conclusion that Cossiga "can't be sidelined as a crackpot conspiracy theorist."

Former Italian President and the man who revealed the existence of Operation Gladio Francesco Cossiga has gone public on 9/11, telling Italy's most respected newspaper that the attacks were run by the CIA and Mossad and that this was common knowledge amongst global intelligence agencies.

Cossiga was elected President of Italian Senate in July 1983 before being winning a landslide 1985 election to become President of the country in 1985.

Cossiga gained respect from opposition parties as one of a rare breed - an honest politician - and led the country for seven years until April 1992.

Cossiga's tendency to be outspoken upset the Italian political establishment and he was forced to resign after revealing the existence of, and his part in setting up, Operation Gladio - a rogue intelligence network under NATO auspices that carried out bombings across Europe in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Gladio's specialty was to carry out what they coined "false flag operations," terror attacks that were blamed on their domestic and geopolitical opposition.

Cossiga's revelations contributed to an Italian parliamentary investigation of Gladio in 2000, during which evidence was unearthed that the attacks were being overseen by the U.S. intelligence apparatus .

In March 2001, Gladio agent Vincenzo Vinciguerra stated, in sworn testimony, "You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple: to force ... the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security."

Cossiga's new revelations appeared last week in Italy's oldest and most widely read newspaper, Corriere della Sera. Below appears a rough translation.

"[Bin Laden supposedly confessed] to the Qaeda September [attack] to the two towers in New York [claiming to be] the author of the attack of the 11, while all the [intelligence services] of America and Europe ... now know well that the disastrous attack has been planned and realized from the CIA American and the Mossad with the aid of the Zionist world in order to put under accusation the Arabic Countries and in order to induce the western powers to take part ... in Iraq [and] Afghanistan."

Cossiga first expressed his doubts about 9/11 in 2001, and is quoted in Webster Tarpley's book as stating that "The mastermind of the attack must have been a sophisticated mind, provided with ample means not only to recruit fanatic kamikazes, but also highly specialized personnel. I add one thing: it could not be accomplished without infiltrations in the radar and flight security personnel.

Coming from a widely respected former head of state, Cossiga's assertion that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job and that this is common knowledge amongst global intelligence agencies is highly unlikely to be mentioned by any establishment media outlets, because like the hundreds of other sober ex-government, military, air force professionals, allied to hundreds more professors and intellectuals - he can't be sidelined as a crackpot conspiracy theorist.

Remarkably, the world sees nothing wrong or out of the ordinary with this and would like us to simply live with it, negotiate with a juggernaut military power that has made no secret of its desire and intent to take all of Palestine and get rid of as many of us Gentiles as it possibly can. Korean News uncovers lunar world-domination scheme!

The mighty treasure-sword of Songun journalism once again smashes the sinister plots of the Imperialist bellicose forces!

The U.S. bellicose forces have already worked out a phased program for establishing a lunar military base capable of striking any target on the earth and any satellite as part of their frantic moves to accelerate the development of space weapons and specified even what should be done at each phase and its period.

This comes under fire by a signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun Tuesday. Environmentalists "encouraging Jews around the world to light at least one less candle this Hanukka to help the environment"

This is so misguided. What about the makers of organic olive oil and hemp wicks? The campaign calls for "people who do not keep mitzvot not to light a hanukkia at all." What will they do instead and what will be the environmental impact of that alternate activity? What if they hold a tractor-pull? What will be with the environment then? Don't let the "Green Hanukkia" campaign succeed! Get up from your computer right now. Seek out people who might otherwise neglect to light a menorah and GIVE THEM CHANUKAH LICHT!!!!!! In a campaign that has spread like wildfire across the Internet, a group of Israeli environmentalists is encouraging Jews around the world to light at least one less candle this Hanukka to help the environment.

The founders of the Green Hanukkia campaign found that every candle that burns completely produces 15 grams of carbon dioxide. If an estimated one million Israeli households light for eight days, they said, it would do significant damage to the atmosphere.

"The campaign calls for Jews around the world to save the last candle and save the planet, so we won't need another miracle," said Liad Ortar, the campaign's cofounder, who runs the Arkada environmental consulting firm and the Ynet Web site's environmental forum. "Global warming is a milestone in human evolution that requires us to rethink how we live our lives, and one of the main paradigms of that is religion and how it fits into the current situation."

Cofounder Tom Wegner, who heads the public relations firm Update Marketing Media, spread the campaign via mass e-mails and through social interaction Web sites like Facebook and Hook.co.il. He said no money had been invested in the campaign, but it had already raised awareness around the world and made people realize that they have to consider the environment this Hanukka.

Wegner said he did not consider the campaign anti-religious. The unlit candle could be the shamash, which is not required for the mitzva, he said. But he said he would encourage people who do not keep mitzvot not to light a hanukkia at all for environmental and educational reasons.

"We have many environmental traditions in Judaism like Tu Bishvat and Succot, but there are also traditions like Lag Ba'omer and Hanukka that made sense when they were instituted but are more problematic now in the days of global warming," Wegner said.

"There are many people who just light candles for the tradition and for their children," he said. "To tell a child on the eighth day that we are not lighting the last candle as a sacrifice for the environment is an act that is not only educational but also will prevent the release of a huge amount of carbon dioxide that would hurt the environment."

Shas MK Nissim Ze'ev said he was not convinced by the environmentalists' argument. He warned that the campaign would take away from the light of Torah that each and every candle symbolizes.

"The environmentalists should think about how much pollution is caused by one solitary diesel truck on the road," Ze'ev said. "They should be fighting the trucks instead of Judaism. This is so trivial, so anti-Jewish and so anti-religious that even the worst anti-Semites couldn't think of it. Just like the Helenists, they are trying to extinguish the flames of the Jewish soul." Let's make Chanukah more meaningful by making it all about global warming

When we last met Rabbi Arthur Waskow, he was explaining the wisdom of CAIR's refusal to condemn Hamas and Hizbullah. Here he explains how to throw away that boring business with Maccabees and oil and light and make the holiday all about "global scorching" (It can't be called "warming" because that sounds "so pleasant, so comforting"). No, this isn't a joke:

There are three levels of wisdom through which Chanukah invites us to address the planetary dangers of the global climate crisis -- what some of us call "global scorching" because "warming" seems so pleasant, so comforting.

We can encode these three teachings into actions we take to heal the Earth each of the eight days.

1. The Talmud's legend that for the Maccabees to rededicate the Temple desecrated by the Seleucid Empire, it took only one day’s oil to meet eight days' needs: a reminder that if we have the courage to change our lifestyles to conserve energy, it will sustain us.

2. The vision of the Prophet Zechariah, whose visionary passages are read on Shabbat Chanukah, that the Temple Menorah was itself a living being, uniting the world of "nature" and "humanity" -- for it was not only fashioned by human hands in the shape of a Tree of Light, as Torah teaches, but was flanked by two olive trees that fed olive oil directly into it. What better symbol of how intertwined we are with the wounded earth that sustains us?

3. The memory that a community of "the powerless" led by people as determined as the Maccabees can overcome a great empire, giving us courage to face our modern corporate empires of Oil and Coal when they defile our most sacred Temple: Earth itself. [...]

Breaking up is hard on the planet

The study featured in this article presents the amazing finding that two can live as cheaply as one:

Divorce leaves more than a trail of legal documents, stinging egos and uprooted kids. The split-ups wreak havoc on the environment.

A global trend of soaring divorce rates has led to a surge in the number of households with fewer people. The result: We collectively devour more space and gobble up more energy and water, say the authors of a new study published online this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

So love grown cold leads to global warming?

"Not only the United States, but also other countries, including developing countries such as China and places with strict religious policies regarding divorce, are having more divorced households," said co-author Jianguo Liu of Michigan State University. "The consequent increases in consumption of water and energy and using more space are being seen everywhere."

The study gives the down and dirty truths on exactly how much of Mother Nature's resources go down the tubes when unions are severed. But the remedy for such "squander" is made for TV: Fall back in love, or at least cohabitate. [...]

Chavez lost!

The voters of Venezuela rejected Juche-ness and Songun-keit, abandoned the quest for Independence, revealed themselves to be pawns of the World Arrogance, failed to smash Imperialist plots, became Bush's poodles, proved themselves unworthy of the great ~~Mugabe~~ Bolivar, etc. 51 percent of them anyway. Hooray! From Reuters:

Venezuelans have rejected President Hugo Chavez's bid to win new powers and run for re-election for decades to come in an unprecedented defeat that could slow his socialist revolution in the OPEC nation.

In a fiercely contested referendum on Sunday, voters said "No" to reforms that would have scrapped term limits on Chavez's rule, given him control over foreign currency reserves and boosted his powers to expropriate private property.

Election officials said early on Monday that the "No" camp had about 51 percent of the vote and the anti-U.S. president scored around 49 percent support.

Opposition celebrations immediately erupted throughout Caracas with caravans of activists cheering, honking horns and waving flags out of car windows.

Although he remains powerful and popular, it was Chavez's biggest vote blow since he swept to power in a 1998 election.

He quickly conceded defeat but insisted he would "continue in the battle to build socialism." He also said the reforms had failed "for now" and they were "still alive," suggesting he might try again to push them through later on. [...]

Then there's the notorious Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which sets out just such a programme in albeit an overtly grotesque form and is solemnly disowned by Zionists as a forgery, though a forgery of what is never made clear.

What is behind the Bible is not simply a record of historical facts or of even doctrines, but ultimately, the presence of God. There is much self-reference of symbols within the Bible for which the only "proof" that, say, the gospel story is true is that it fulfils the prophecies of the OT, and the only "proof" that the prophecies of the OT are true is that they are fulfilled by the gospel. This has absolutely nothing to do with digging up shards to establish some self-referential "event" in one of the Bible's many tales. There is no temple out there (or under there, where "there" happens to be the very real Al-Aqsa Mosque). The real temple exists in one's heart, though it is very unlikely that one can find it in the scheming Zionist's inflamed and secular heart. And by murdering and tormenting peaceful natives in order to scrounge some bits of a previous building and call it God's temple is unspeakable in its evil. The Naturei Karta heart has the temple in it, but for such a Jew, physical Israel itself is an abomination, and should be dismantled forthwith, or to borrow a particularly colourful metaphor of recent vintage, wiped off the map.[...]

I don't think it was the Neturei Karta exactly who coined this "particularly colourful metaphor," but they I believe they expressed appreciation for the sentiment afterwards.

IRIB: "Mugabe invites Africans to unity"

Iran won't give up its nukes and it's being pretty steadfast about its cheer leading for Mugabe:

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Friday urged African countries to continue assisting each other in regional projects so that the continent can become a force to reckon with on a global scale, New Ziana reported.

The world would only recognize Africa when she begins to speak with one voice, Mugabe was quoted as saying at a joint command and staff course graduation ceremony in Harare.

He said a common ground would also see the region contribute immensely to its socio economic growth and defend its sovereignty, which is under constant attack from outside forces.

"When we stand united," he said, "Africa's voice in international affairs can grow into a force that cannot be silenced. We will not only be capable of defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity, but we will also be able to safeguard, promote and support the sound socio economic growth of our peoples."

(North) Korean News: "Kim Jong Il Praised as Most Famous Person of World"

Yep, he's "wisely leading humankind toward the victory of the cause of independence":

General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoys highest praises as the great man, political leader and famous person ranking first in the world for his great ideological and theoretical feats and wise leadership, noble personality and virtues.

In the last century the "Eurasia Joint House" Association in Russia acclaimed Kim Jong Il who was wisely leading humankind toward the victory of the cause of independence as "Man of the Year, 1994" and the Development Supporting Association and the Development Promotion Association in Peru as "Man of the Year, 1997".

World media are becoming louder in the 2000s in praising him as the most prominent leader.

The Intellectual Research Group put his name on the top of the list of 10 famous persons in the present-day world.

"Al Ahram" and "Al Akhbar", Egyptian newspapers, listed him as "Man of the Year, 2006."

The Iranian paper "Tehran Times" called Kim Jong Il "the most famous person of the world" and the Russian papers "Patriot", "Byvor" and "Poditiya" highly praised him as "a great man", "a consummate politician of the present times" and "the world's brilliant commander of the 21st century".

The U.S. magazine "Time" praised him as the most outstanding statesman among the world's famous politicians in 2004 and an excellent leader in 2006. And this year it listed him as the leader who has the biggest influence on the change of the world and the best reputed leader in the world.

In the opinion poll held in the United States for selecting world's famous persons and deciding their ranking, most of the pollees put Kim Jong Il on the top of the list and defined his character as strict principle, superb diplomatic talent and outstanding commanding art.

An Internet site of China extolled Kim Jong Il, saying his decision and practical ability, humorous sense and talent were beyond the imagination of the West.
