Media should stay away from political inclination and should only fulfill their duties." That's so meaningful coming from IRNA:
IRNA Managing Director Jalal Fayyazi said on Thursday that free dissemination of information is regarded as a big lie in the western world in the contemporary era.
Addressing a gathering dubbed as "Role and Impacts of Women in Dissemination of News and Information in the Country", he said even the so-called supporters of free dissemination of information in the western world are now having tight control over their media by drawing up very special programs for them.
In fact media in the western world merely reflect the ideas and policies of their policy makers, he said.
Under challenges facing the world, mass media play a very crucial role like what American media had done before the US attacked Afghanistan and Iraq to win support of world countries, Fayyazi said.
The impacts of news bombardments in many cases are much stronger than military operations, he underlined.
In today's world and under the current circumstances investments which are made in media sector are gradually transferred to militarism, he said.
Referring to the status of media in the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said after triumph of the Islamic Revolution in Iran the media experienced a qualitative and quantitative growth and a new horizon was opened for domestic mass media.
It rallied around the headquarters of the revolution and performed undying feats . . . er . . . oops, wrong dictatorship.
Media should stay away from political inclination and should only fulfill their duties, he said.
From early stages of the Islamic Revolution, world media launched smear propaganda campaigns against the status of Iranian women who had a brilliant performance in social, political and cultural fields, Fayyazi said.
Iranian women can play a very successful role in various sectors by properly demonstrating their capabilities, Fayyazi said.
Oh, is that how? I was wondering.
It is quite natural that some 40 percent of the country's media persons are females who have institutionalized their real role in the Islamic society, Fayyazi said.
