Spokesman of the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement Hossein Rahal praised the Iranian people for their massive participation in the Friday parliamentary elections, and said such a high rate of turnout indicates the nation's staunch support for Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
"With their presence at the ballot boxes, the Iranian nation announced to the world that they are always present on the scene and perform their duties," Rahal told FNA on Saturday.
He underlined that the high turnout of people in the ninth parliamentary elections in Iran shows the firm and conclusive support of the Iranian people for their leader and the Islamic Republic.
Informed sources said late on Friday that a sum of 32 to 33 million Iranians voted in the country's 9th legislative elections, putting the public participation rate at around 66%, although early official estimates will be released Sunday night.
Although official sources, including interior ministry and Guardian Council officials, have not released any figure on the number of participants in Iran's 9th parliamentary elections, informed sources and FNA dispatches from across the country said between 32 and 33 million Iranians took part in the yesterday elections.
The FNA estimates are based on the official figures released on the number of ballot papers sent and used in nationwide constituencies. [...]
