IRNA: "Music in Iran not to promote vulgarism: minister":
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-hossein Saffar-Harandi said on Tuesday that music in Iran was moving on a sound track and will never promote vulgarism. He also added that the Islamic Republic is undoubtedly using non-vulgar music in the soundtracks of police films:
He made the remarks during a meeting with the International Music Council's (IMC) Executive Deputy Inar Sulbo, who is in Iran at the minister's invitation and was a guest at the recently concluded 22nd Fajr International Music Festival.
The 10-day festival ended Monday evening.
The IMC is affiliated to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Saffar-Harandi said that reasonable cooperation between the government and bodies in the Iranian music industry has "prevented Iranian music from falling into vulgarism."
Moreover, he said that international bodies like the IMC which are active in the music industry should endeavor to make countries such as Iran familiar with the music of other countries.
However, he stressed that such efforts should pay due attention the peculiarities of each nation's music.
Criticizing the idea of unifying all cultures and civilizations into one specific culture in the name of globalization, Saffar-Harandi said it was possible to create a state of confusion and alienation in certain countries by allowing entry of unfavorable foreign music into the music arena of these countries.
The UNESCO official, for his part, thanked Saffar-Harandi for inviting him to attend the 22nd Fajr International Music Festival. [...]

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar-Harandi said here Tuesday that holding the police film festival will be a positive factor for correction of the community's approach to the police. But of course, the World Arrogance and Zionist Entity must never suppose that Iranians spend all their time attending Police Film Feastivals and listening to non-vulgar music. They also spend the proper amount of time working on their constant vigilance:
The minister made the remark in the inaugural ceremony of the 2nd Police Film Festival.
He underlined that when the police makes its facilities available to the native cinema and culture, they can be used as tools to develop the economy of cinema and promote the style of police films.
Saffar-Harandi pointed to 500 new film scripts as the achievement of the 2nd Police Film Festival and said, "Even if a limited number of the written film scripts are used to produce cinematic or television films they will be effective in promoting national cinema and films of the police genre.
He underlined, "Through films of police genre, we do not only mean to produce an atmosphere of action films with the presence of police, but we also seek a new style where social approach and the order established by the police are seen together. Thus such films will be effected by the social environment."
The minister noted that police films can serve as the full mirror of the community, even if they do not have a role in it.
Fars News: "Senior Commander: Iran Targets West's Economy, Israel's Security if Threatened":
Deputy Commander of Basij (mobilized) forces said Iran could block oil traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz and target Israel's security if the West poses any threats to Iran.
"Given Iran's authority over the Strait of Hormuz, the passageway to more than 40 percent of the world's energy, we have become so strong that the world's economic and energy security are in the hands of Iran," General Majid Mir Ahmadi said.
"We can exert pressure on the US and British economies as much as we ourselves are put under pressure," he said. "US allies, especially those who host US military sites or facilitate American strategies against us, are exposed to our threat," Mir Ahmadi added. "This is the Islamic republic's strategy in the Persian Gulf - security for everyone or for nobody."
"If this message is understood well, it will be a very effective deterrent, which can reduce pressures," the General added.
He also stressed that Iran will threaten Israel's security as much as its own security is threatened.
"It is important that the Strategy the Supreme Leader announced -- that is if the enemies hit us, we will hit them twice outside our borders -- is understood well," the military official underscored.
Meanwhile, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that Tehran would never yield to international pressure to deprive it of its right to nuclear technology. [...]
