Thirty-eight per cent of Quebecers think 9/11 was at least partly the result of Israel’s actions in the Middle East, the highest of any region of Canada, according to a poll commissioned by the Montreal-based Association for Canadian Studies (ACS).There is quite a bit more to the article.
Overall, 31 per cent of all Canadians, including Quebecers, hold the same opinion. When Quebec responses are deducted from the national total, about 27 per cent of the rest of Canada think Israel’s actions were a “primary cause” of 9/11.
ACS director Jack Jedwab said the more than 10-point spread on this question between Quebecers and other Canadians is significant.
In addition, the great majority of Quebecers, more than three-quarters – well above the Canadian average of 63 per cent – believe the Sept. 11 attacks were also at least in part caused by U.S. foreign policy . . .
Jebwab said the Jewish community should be concerned that a sizeable minority of Canadians overall are ready to blame Israel for 9/11. “It will be a big challenge to change their minds. A lot of work and dialogue is needed to help people better understand why the Jewish community, legitimately, feels differently.”
