MENL: "Hamas seeks to use the United States as a logistics base"

But they're the democratically-elected government of the Palestinian Authority!
The government has determined that Hamas seeks to use the United States as a logistics base for attacks in the Middle East.

Officials said Hamas has been recruiting agents in the United States as well as laundering money for operations in the Middle East. They said the Islamic movement, which captured the Palestinian Authority in January 2006, has also been using the United States to coordinate communications.

"It's not about illegalizing the belief that a government somewhere else should be overthrown," U.S. attorney Joseph Ferguson said. "It's about what the defendants have done in the safe-haven of America."

Ferguson described Hamas's role in the United States in closing arguments on Jan. 8 in federal district court in Chicago in the trial of two suspected Islamic operatives on charges of racketeering, money laundering, obstruction of justice and passport fraud. A Chicago grocer and a Washington-based business professor have been accused of using humanitarian aid to finance strikes against Israel.
Also at MENL: "Iran has been developing an attack helicopter with Western assistance."
