Today at IRIB

[For those new to this blog, IRIB is the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting site. The articles are translated into English under the apparent assumption that Iranian propaganda does not need to be adapated for English-speaking readers. So for J-blog purposes, IRIB functions as a horse's-mouth equivalent of MEMRI]

"Castro in good spirits":
Cuban President Fidel Castro is in stable condition and in good spirits, according to his statement read on Cuban television Tuesday.

The popular Cuban leader turns 80 on August 13.
"Hezbollah rocket range at 60km now":
Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement Hezbollah pounded the Zionist settled city of 'Beit Shean' Wednesday, some 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the Lebanese border, the deepest strike into the Zionist settled areas of the 1948 occupied Palestine since the start of the Zionist regime's aggression against Lebanon 22 days ago, the regime's radio said.

It marked the first time that a Hezbollah rocket had hit what is considered the occupied Palestine's central region and the most populated area.
"'Land of Olives' contest for children":
"Children of the land of olives" is an internet competition currently underway to highlight Lebanese and Palestinian issues.

Organized by the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, which faxed the details to the English-language newspaper Iran Daily, said the competition tests the degree of Iranian children's familiarity with the history of occupied territories, appearance of the Zionist regime and the struggle of Muslims for ending Zionists' atrocities.

Questions pertain to historical buildings of Palestine, statements of Palestinian leaders and the resistance of Palestinians against the occupiers.
