Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki expressed hope that Syria's presidency over the Arab Summit will help put an end to the ongoing crisis in Palestine.
Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, where the two sides discussed mutual relations, removal of problems of Muslim world and the current successful Arab Summit in Damascus.
He further conveyed warm greetings of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Syrian president and congratulated him on successful performance of the 21st Summit of Arab leaders and Syria's one-year presidency over the Arab League.
The Iranian top diplomat also hoped to witness removal of Muslims' problems mainly in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon during presidency of Syria over the Arab League.
Mottaki also extended an official invitation to al-Assad to visit Tehran.
The Syrian president, for his part said that the Arab League would address issues of the world of Islam particularly those of Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon.
Mottaki also conferred with a number of high ranking officials from other countries attending in Arab summit on Sunday on regional developments.
The 21st Arab Summit wound up on Sunday afternoon after one week of activities in the Syrian capital city of Damascus.

Syria's presidency actually provoked a boycott from a number of Arab regimes, but Iran, as reported in this Fars News article, has high hopes that Syrian leadership will lead to "removal of Muslims' problems mainly in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon." I mean, who could be a better man for the job than Assad?
