More Great Moments in Great Leaderhood

In case you didn't know, "Anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk" was Kim Jong Il's mother:
It was one day in mid-October, Juche 29 (1940) that a unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army was billeted in a valley.

Anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk was making a meal at a spring when she saw a thin wisp of smoke rising into the air.

She rushed to the spot and saw some members of the KPRA driving bees out of beehive by kindling fire.

She severely reproved them for their carelessness, asking why they were making smoke near the bivouac before dark.

After watching them for a while, she said to the following effect: It's good to serve honey to Comrade Commander. But, did you think about the security of the headquarters when you made a fire without vigilance in violation of the discipline of the guerrilla army?

To keep vigilance is the first and foremost duty for us who bear the heavy but honorable duty of defending Comrade Commander. Why do you not think about this? Your careless act, in the long run, is little different from informing the enemy of the position of the headquarters.

The guerrillas hung down their heads, reproaching themselves for their careless act.

Seeing them, she told earnestly that they were defending the Commander, and no matter what they did, they should always pay primary attention to the security of the headquarters.

They respectfully looked up to Kim Jong Suk who put preference to the security of the headquarters anytime and anywhere.
Imperialist life is so empty--when is the last time you thought of the security of the headquarters of the revolution?

"Text of Leader's Speech at the Exceptional Honouring in Venezuela in Which He was Granted Order of Simon Bolivar"

The phrase "Dear Brother Revolutionary Hero Chavez" is priceless:
The Leader of the Revolution made the following statement at the honouring ceremony in the Island of Margarita during which he was granted "Order of Bol?var", the highest medal of Venezuela by President Hugo Chavez:
In the Name of Allah..

Dear brothers, sons of the people of Venezuela and the Island of Margarita in particular,

Dear Brother Revolutionary Hero Chavez
First I want to express in the name of your brothers in Libya my appreciation of this honouring ..it was a great honour for me to be granted the Historic order of Bolivar.

This a great honour..we are all faithful to our great history ..faithful to Omar Mukhtar and to Simon Bolivar.

We are peoples of ideals ..we are not materialistic peoples ..we are peoples of values ..that's why we make sacrifices..

The materialistic forces do not have such values, so they make less sacrifices ..
We make sacrifices for freedom ..for dignity ..for honour ..for righteousness and for justice.

They pursue injustice and occupation of others ..they worship materialism ..therefore they do not have values that deserve to make sacrifices for.

I mean the imperialists ..the fascists ..enemies of freedom and enemies of righteousness. [...]
Righteousness is a big theme with Chavez, I'm sure. As you may know, the great brother revolutionary heroes also urged a new definition of terrorism. The VOA article on this declaration took their suggestion to heart immediately:
The United States and Colombia have charged that Mr. Chavez has aided the leftist insurgent group FARC, which has been waging a long civil war against Colombia.

Jews sans frontiers calls B'Tselem the Z word

The title is "B'Tselem the zionist 'human rights' group" with "human rights" in scare quotes. At issue is the following from the Jerusalem Post:
The UN Human Rights Council and its recent Goldstone Report are either biased or mistaken respectively in some of their fundamental accusations against Israel, according to the director of one of Israel's main rights groups.

Even so, "Israel has only itself to blame" for its failure to investigate the accusations of abuses during January's Operation Cast Lead that led to the report, according to B'Tselem executive director Jessica Montell.

"There's no question that the HRC, which mandated the Goldstone [fact-finding mission into the Gaza fighting], has an inappropriate, disproportionate fixation with Israel," she said, adding that the Council was "a political body made up of diplomats, not human rights experts, which means that the powerful states are never going to come under scrutiny the way the powerless will. So China, Russia and the US will never have commission of inquiry, regardless of how their crimes rank relative to Israeli crimes."

Furthermore, the Goldstone Report itself, which was presented in its final version to the Human Rights Council on Tuesday, is "disagreeable" and mistaken in some of its gravest accusations against Israel, she believes. These include the claim that Israel intentionally targeted the civilian population rather than Hamas, and the "weak, hesitant way that the report mentions Hamas's strategy of using civilians [in combat]."
JSF is not pleased:
I've been happy enough to run with B'Tselem's criticisms of Israel in the past but I have had doubts about them. It was never anything I could actually put my finger on so I suppose I should be grateful for the fact that B'Tselem's group director, Jessica Montell, has decided to run with the zionist pack over the Goldstone report on Israel's bout of war crimes against the civilian population of Gaza at the end of last year and the beginning of this one.
The intrepid frontierless one introduces his response by asking "Is comment necessary here? Oh alright then, here goes . . . " Do we have to waste any attention on his comments (unless they're funny)? Naaaah.

"Universe is full of sounds": Ahmadinejad explains music

Remember the Martyr's Symphony? Here we learn about the "Sweet Symphony of Resistance." How do you convey "resistance" in a symphony? Is it sort of like the 1812 Overture with Hatikvah substituting for the French theme? Or do Iranian composers write what they would write anyway and entitle the pieces "resistance" this and "martyrdom" that to please the authorities?
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday universe is full of sounds, adding, "Music is art of recreating those sounds in veins of life."

President Ahmadinejad who had attended the closing night of a concert titled the Sweet Symphony of Resistance, conducted by Majid Entezami, added, "Music is the echo of love, life, and perfection that intends to harmonize the scattered sounds in the universe and to create a harmonious wave."
I hear he plays the ukulele.
The President said, "In this symphony the contents of several books were condensed and presented in the span of some 90 minutes, and that reveals the real worth of music."
Which books? Now We Are Six? Selected Works of Kim Jong Il Vol. 2?
Ahmadinejad said that arts are the beautiful faced of cultures and music is one of the best arts, reiterating, "Culture is the connection ring among the souls of human beings and people minus cultures resemble stones, or meaner beings than stones."

The President reiterated, "Just like air that is necessary for the continuation of life, culture, too, is the life giving link between man's soul and body, feeding the soul that is more important than the body."

The President appreciated the entire members of Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra, particularly their conductor Majid Entezami, the orchestra's singers, Mohammad Abdohosseini and Nima Masiha and the harp player of the group that had played with his entire sensations throughout the symphony.

The President reiterated, "All the members of the orchestra intended to convey the message that they are full of hope and expectations on behalf of a resistant nation that is standing tall and will stand bravely till the very end." [...]
All except the bassoon player--he turned out to be a spy for the World Arrogance. The latest Haveil Havalim and KCC also intend to harmonize the scattered sounds in the universe and to create a harmonious wave.

Yom Kippur

Gemar Chasimah Tovah!

Easy Fast!

Here is "Yom Kippur in a Nutshell" from chabad.org:
Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year--the day on which we are closest to G‑d and to the quintessence of our own souls. It is the Day of Atonement -- "For on this day He will forgive you, to purify you, that you be cleansed from all your sins before G‑d" (Leviticus 16:30).

For twenty-six hours--from several minutes before sunset on Tishrei 9 to after nightfall on Tishrei 10--we "afflict our souls": we abstain from food and drink, do not wash or anoint our bodies, do not wear leather shoes, and abstain from marital relations.

Before Yom Kippur we perform the Kaparot atonement service; we request and receive honey cake, in acknowledgement that we are all recipients in G-d's world and in prayerful hope for a sweet and abundant year; eat a festive meal, immerse in a mikvah, and give extra charity. Late afternoon we eat the pre-fast meal, following which we bless our children, light a memorial candle as well as the holiday candles, and go to the synagogue for Kol Nidrei services.

In the course of Yom Kippur we hold five prayer services: Maariv, with its solemn Kol Nidrei service, on the eve of Yom Kippur; Shacharit--the morning prayer; Musaf, which includes a detailed account of the Yom Kippur Temple service; Minchah, which includes the reading of the Book of Jonah; and Ne'illah, the "closing of the gates" service at sunset. We say the Al Chet confession of sins eight times in the course of Yom Kippur, and recite Psalms every available moment.

The day is the most solemn of the year, yet an undertone of joy suffuses it: a joy that revels in the spirituality of the day and expresses the confidence that G-d will accept our repentance, forgive our sins, and seal our verdict for a year of life, health and happiness. When the closing Ne'illah service climaxes in the resounding cries of "Hear O Israel... G-d is one" and a single blast of the shofar, followed by the proclamation, "Next year in Jerusalem." Then joy erupts in song and dance (a Chabad custom is to sing the lively "Napoleon's March"), followed by the festive after-fast meal, making the evening after Yom Kippur a Yom Tov (festival) in its own right.
Have a good sweet year!

Translator overcome by profundity of Leader of the Revolution

At JANA, Gaddafi's own news agency, the report of his speech at the UN is entitled "Addressing UN General Assembly Leader of the Revolution Chairman of the AU Offers Radical Solutions That Could Rock UN Foundations" and it is up to its "19th Addendum." The speech appears to have rocked the poor translator to his foundations:
After struggling to turn Khadafy’s insane ramblings at the UN into English for 75 minutes, the Libyan dictator’s personal interpreter got lost in translation.

"I just can’t take it any more," Khadafy’s interpreter shouted into the live microphone – in Arabic.

At that point, the U.N.’s Arabic section chief, Rasha Ajalyaqeen, took over and translated the final 20 minutes of the speech.

"His interpreter just collapsed – this is the first time I have seen this in 25 years," another U.N. Arabic interpreter told The Post. [...]

Iran wants Uranium from the Big Satan

According to Wikipedia, long the premier source of information on nuclear engineering:
The fissile uranium in nuclear weapons usually contains 85% or more of 235U known as weapon(s)-grade, though for a crude, inefficient weapon 20% is sufficient (called weapon(s)-usable); some argue that even less is sufficient, but then the critical mass required rapidly increases.

The very first uranium bomb, Little Boy in 1945, used only 64 kilograms of 80% enriched uranium.
Juan Cole says "You need to enrich uranium to 90% to make a bomb." Here we learn from Ahmadinejad that "A bomb needs enriched uranium to the grade of 99.7 percent." The level of enriched uranium needed for a bomb seems to be directly proportionate to one's propensity to promote Iran's point of view:
In a New York interview, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Tehran is prepared to buy higher enriched uranium from the US.

“In the meeting in Geneva, we are ready to discuss some issues, including our willingness to purchase 20-percent enriched uranium for our domestic needs,” Ahmadinejad told the Washington Post.

“Iran, in return, will offer solutions to the changes that are required. If Mr. Bush's policies are to be continued with new language, we will not be able to achieve much… If these policies do not change, no real change will happen,” he added.

Ahmadinejad was responding to a question about how US President Barack Obama compares with his predecessor George Bush and whether he is someone Iran could do business with.

“We have a reactor in Tehran that produces nuclear medicine based on radioactive technologies. It requires 19.75 percent enrichment. We are prepared to purchase this material,” the president explained.

“We are prepared… to engage in nuclear cooperation as well as to discuss our need to purchase these materials. I think it is a very robust proposal which gives a good opportunity for a fresh start,” he added.

However, Ahmadinejad did point out that the offer does not mean that Iran is prepared to suspend uranium enrichment.

“Our level of enrichment is currently at 3.5 percent - within a range of 3 to 5 percent. The materials go to nuclear power plants. They are useless for a bomb. A bomb needs enriched uranium to the grade of 99.7 percent. We believe that the possession of nuclear bombs is immoral,” said Ahmadinejad.

“These nuclear materials we are seeking to purchase are for medicinal purposes. The 20 percent material is to produce the drugs… They are working on these drugs in Tehran right now. Our reactors are really busy trying to produce these drugs,” he added. [...]
Another article from PressTV is entitled "Ahmadinejad elaborates on 'Down with US' slogan" and includes some Holocaust thoughts:
"I have a number of questions with respect to the Holocaust: Why is the Holocaust the sole historical event that has been magnified, and why politicians have paid special attention to this event and have approached it with bias. Why the people of Palestine have to pay the price for it and why no one is allowed to launch independent and logical investigation into the Holocaust," he told the NPR.

"Currently there are a number of prominent historians, who are serving prison terms on charges of investigating the Holocaust. These are serious questions and I call on those who care for human rights to answer these questions."
Another PressTV article is entitled "Ahmadinejad: Why focus on Holocaust?" and offers even more of Ahmadinejad's Holocaust-related meditations. You don't think Obama is going to give them the Uranium, do you?

Some say new Zionist weapon still untested

Some in the organization are claiming that this is a great success for the Babbling Idiot Ray, but for definitive results they need to get a subject who was clearly sane to begin with:
It's been 89 days since Manuel Zelaya was booted from power. He's sleeping on chairs, and he claims his throat is sore from toxic gases and "Israeli mercenaries'' are torturing him with high-frequency radiation.

"We are being threatened with death,'' he said in an interview with The Miami Herald, adding that mercenaries were likely to storm the embassy where he has been holed up since Monday and assassinate him.

"I prefer to march on my feet than to live on my knees before a military dictatorship,'' Zelaya said in a series of back-to-back interviews.

Zelaya was deposed at gunpoint on June 28 and slipped back into his country on Monday, just two days before he was scheduled to speak before the United Nations. He sought refuge at the Brazilian Embassy, where Zelaya said he is being subjected to toxic gases and radiation that alter his physical and mental state. [...]
The effect is subtler than that of the Gaddafi Ray, but it has a smaller carbon footprint. (h/t: Discarded Lies)

PressTV: "Iran downs strange bright craft over Persian Gulf"

I guess that solves the Iran problem. The Usplargians are not going to be happy:
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has targeted and downed an unidentified shining object after sighting it over Persian Gulf waters.

"Glowing objects were sighted over the Persian Gulf. IRGC air defense targeted one of the objects successfully, forcing it to plummet and sink in the seas off Boushehr (Province)," said top regional commander, Brigadier Ali Razmjou.

"The three bright objects were detected by our radars when flying over the Persian Gulf Islands of Khark and Khargou," he added, according to a Monday report posted on IRNA.

Brig. Razmjou explained that when the radars indicated that they were not Iranian aircrafts, the IRGC fired at the three objects. He also added that the fallen objects' remains have not been found yet.

The exact time and location of the sighting and downing of the weird aircraft has not been announced.
The Usplargians probably won't vaporize you for checking out the latest Haveil Havalim.

Juan Cole's Iran blogging takes a strange turn

Ahamadinjad's recent pronouncements, as you probably already know, reprise some of his favorite anti-Semitic and Holocaust-denial tropes. This prompts a post from Juan entitled "Ahmadinejad Spews Raving Lunatic Anti-Semitism on 'Jerusalem Day.'" OK, we get the picture, Juan--this is bad stuff. At one point he summarizes:
In other words, he is saying, all of modern history (possibly from the Portuguese conquest of Goa) and certainly the British conquests during WW I, the Nazi persecution of Jews, and last year's American presidential race, has been the unfolding of a secret Jewish plot, wherein "Zionists" control everything that happens.
He wants us to identify this sort of thinking with Ahmadinejad himself, however, and argues
. . . it remains the case that Ahmadinejad is not the commander in chief of the armed forces and cannot make troops march into war-- that prerogative is with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Ahmadinejad could not even appoint a vice president he wanted without Khamenei's permission (and when it was not forthcoming, he had to dismiss him).

But the venomous rhetoric against Jews (it isn't just Zionists if it is projected back 500 years) that he used in this speech is so hateful that if it became widespread and ensconced in Iranian society, it certainly would have bad and tragic results-- for Jews, Iranians and for us human beings in general.
Good thing it's only Ahmadinejad, right? As anyone who pays attention knows, Holocaust-denial has pervaded Iran's press agencies for quite some time. Sometimes this takes the form of reports of Ahmadinejad speeches, but quite often it doesn't. Key allies of Iran, such as Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, have also "spewed" Holocaust denial. I would say this rhetoric has become "widespread and ensconced," and not just in Iranian society. Juan seems mostly concerned with reassuring us that he is personally disgusted but that there is really nothing to worry about:
Luckily, most Iranians clearly were not taken in, and his opponents put around pamphlets saying "No to Gaza and Lebanon, I will give my life [only] for Iran!" In fact, by associating it with himself, Ahmadinejad may single-handedly be sinking support for the Palestinian cause among Iranians, since most of them despise him and everything he stands for.

Now excuse me while I go take a shower with lava soap. Ugh.
For a few days afterwards Juan served up more posts on Iran, mainly insisting that Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons. Take a bow, Juan.

MPAC-UK reveals "The Zionist Terror Training Manual"

The "terror training manual" turns out to be "The Israel Project's 2009 Global Language Dictionary," which, oddly enough, seems to be accessible here.
A US media advocacy group which calls itself 'The Israel Project' has produced a training manual to help the worldwide Zionist movement win the propaganda war, keep their ill-gotten territorial gains and persuade international audiences to accept that their crimes are necessary and conform to ’shared values’ between Israel and the civilised West.

In the ongoing 'Zionist Hasbara Campaign' This manual teaches how to justify the slaughter, the ethnic cleansing, the land-grabbing, the cruelty and the blatant disregard for international law and UN resolutions, and make it all smell sweeter with a liberal squirt of the aerosol of persuasive language.

It is designed to hoodwink us ignorant and gullible Europeans and Americans into believing that we actually share values with the racist regime in Israel and that its abominable behaviour is therefore deserving of our support.

The potential for a public relations massacre is unfolding before our very eyes.

Muslim organisations have neglected the impact of public relations for far too long. Effective and serious communications have neglected to correct Israeli distortion.

We must be very happy it seems, for Israel’s one-sided definitions to prevail, which of course makes the task for Israel so much easier. This latest propaganda offensive is potentially the ‘coup de grace’ to finish off the tormented Palestinians.
Twirl those mustaches!
As we reported earlier this week, the manual will no doubt serve as a communications primer for the army of cyber-scribblers that Israel’s Ministry of Dirty Tricks is recruiting to spread Zionism’s poison across the internet. [...]
When we blow the shofar, the teruah represents diabolical laughter: Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

"Press Secretary, National Jewish Democratic Council" pronounces Glenn Beck "The Grinch Who Stole Yom Kippur"

It seems that Beck wants to make September 28th "a day of Fast and Prayer for the Republic" and to Aaron Keyak that's "co-opting Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year." What does he propose to do about it?
All of this is why the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) will be sending Beck a Jewish New Years card and will be providing Beck a Jewish Calendar for 5770 to post in his office so he's aware of all the Jewish holidays for the upcoming year. Make sure Beck understands the importance of these holidays! Sign your name to the New Years greeting that will accompany the calendar.
Good going, Glenn! You've got the National Jewish Democratic Council all worked up about being "aware of all the Jewish holidays." Please make up an event so that, besides Yom Kippur, they will also get worked up about Shavuos. Oh, and please announce that any Jew wishing to participate in your "day of Fast and Prayer" should consult MyZmanim for the relevant times in his area to begin and end the fast.

Rosh Hashanah: The blowing of the Shofar

The central observance of Rosh Hashanah is the blowing of the shofar. The famous chassidic sage Reb Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev explains the significance of the shofar with a parable. From Chabad.org:
A king was once traveling in the forest and lost his way, until he met a man who recognized that he was the king and escorted his master out of the forest and back to his palace. The king later rewarded him with many presents, and elevated him to a powerful minister's post.

After a while, however, the man committed an act which was considered rebellious against the king, and he was sentenced to death. Before he was taken out to be executed, the king granted him one last request.

The man said: “I request to wear the clothes I wore when I escorted His Majesty when he was lost in the forest, and that His Majesty should also wear the clothes he wore then.”

The king complied, and when they were both dressed in the garments they wore at the time of their meeting, he said, “By your life, you have saved yourself,” and called off the execution.

The meaning of the parable is that when G-d gave the Torah to Israel, he offered it first to all the nations of the world. They all refused, except the people of Israel, who willingly accepted the yoke of Heaven and fulfilled the commandments of the Creator.

But now we have transgressed and rebelled, like the man in the parable, and with the arrival of the Day of Judgment we are fearful indeed. So we blow the shofar to recall the shofar blowing that accompanied our original acceptance of the Torah and coronation of G-d. This merit stands by us, and G-d forgives us all our sins and inscribes us immediately for a year of goodness and life.
May you be sealed and inscrribed for a good and sweet year!

Ahmadinejad: "Holocaust Black Box Should be Opened"

He seems to be convinced that the "Black Box" will reveal that the Holocaust didn't happen. From IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) Radio:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in Tehran on Friday that the Holocaust black box should be opened. Addressing Tehrani Friday prayers worshipers as pre-sermon lecturer, President Ahmadinejad said, "Our call over the past four years has been if the Holocaust claimed by the Zionist regime and its allies is true, why the Zionists and westerners do not allow any research on it?"

According to IRNA, President Ahmadinejad said research on everything is free but Holocaust is the key to a sealed fact and black box.

He went on questioning, "When the event is so much important for which a land is occupied, such a war is waged, millions of people are killed, injured and made homeless, thousands of families are ruined and the Middle East is kept under the shadow of insecurity, why the black box should not be decoded so that facts and realities are revealed to all?"

He said Palestine is still the most important issue of the world of Islam. "We do believe that if war is waged in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is because of Zionists' provocation. If Sudan is suppressed it is because of Zionists' temptations. Zionists are behind all the conspiracies of the arrogance and colonialism. They do not allow the main factor of excuses for Palestine occupation be examined and surveyed."

He added, "The pretext for establishing the Zionist regime is a lie; a lie which relies on an unreliable claim, a mythical claim,
and the occupation of Palestine has nothing to do with the Holocaust."

The Iranian Chief Executive said Iranian nation once again announced today that are standing firm in defense of Islamic Revolution aspirations and of the late Imam Khomeini.

He said Iranian nation will never lay down the flag of dignity, pride and freedom loving.

He then noted that the World Quds Day marks unity of Iranian nation and the world Muslims.

President Ahmadinejad said the World Quds Day is the day of unity of the community of human beings against the corrupt and tyrannical powers.
It would be nice to say that the left just got a glimpse into the black box containing the information that Iran is a Holocaust-denying, anti-Semitic and anti-human conspiracy-kook state that should not be allowed within a million miles of nuclear technology.

Khomeini's daughter: Israel out to "occupy the entire Islamic world"

The apple, maybe the pistachio in this case, doesn't fall very far from the tree. An IRIB Radio article on the same remarks features the same claim: "Imam’s daughter: Israel’s long term objective, occupation of entire Islamic world." The Fars article is a bit longer, but neither one really elaborates on the Islamic-world-occupation claim. The great conspiracy seems to be thwarted every year by Qods Day, however:
Secretary General of Union for Organizations Supporting Palestinian Ideals said Israel's long term objective is not limited to occupation of Palestine, as they intend to occupy the entire Islamic world.

The daughter of the late Imam Khomeini (P), Zahra Mostafavi, who was speaking at a gathering of South African elite Muslim women added on Wednesday, "Fortunately the Muslim nation's sensitivity about the Holy Qods does not permit the criminals to achieve their objectives so easily, as they each year renew their strong support for the Palestinian nation."

She was quoted by the Islamic republic news agency as saying that replying positively to the late Imam's call for launching a global movement aimed at liberation of the Holy Qods is a sheer duty for every single Muslim around the globe today, adding, "Imam Khomeini (P) was an Iranian, but had no prejudice about his Iranian nationality and therefore, he established the International Qods Day as a shared concern for the entire world Muslims as a foundation stone at the service of the greater objective Islamic unity and solidarity."

Mostafavi reiterated, "For us Muslims Fridays are sacred, just as for the Jews Saturdays, and for the Christians Sundays are, and that was the reason why the late Imam (P) chose the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan, which is doubly as sacred, as the Qods Day, so that the entire Muslims would unite and upraise for materializing a sacred objective." [...]
Iran seems to be counting on Qods Day hoopla to act as a distraction from its post-election crackdown. An article in Tehran Times defending a decision "to refrain from identifying the defendants in the most recent trial on the post-election unrest" ends with three paragraphs on Qods Day. We are also told at PressTV that "Iran's jews call for big turn-out in Quds Day rallies":
The Tehran Jewish Committee has called for a big turnout in the Quds Day rally across the country tomorrow.

In their communiqué, quoted by Iran-based Mehr News Agency, the Tehran Jewish Committee states: "The Quds Day is a sign of the love of the followers of divine religions for God's (City) of Quds and the city that is revered by monotheists throughout the world, and a sign of the revulsion of the nations towards violence and suppression of the heroic Palestinian nation."

The late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the Quds (Jerusalem) Day, to highlight the plight of the Palestinians, under Israeli occupation.

But, Palestine and Jerusalem (al-Quds) are not the only aims of this day, for the great revolutionary leader described this day as a day that is "not focused on Quds only, but it is a day of confrontation between the oppressed and the oppressors."

The statement from the organization representing Iran's 4,000-year-old Jewish community goes on to back the late Ayatollah Khomeni's call and expresses its support for a Jerusalem (Quds) that would be "a city of divine religions, peace and fraternity."

In a related development, the parliamentary representative of Iran's Jewish community, Siamak Moreh-Sedeq said: "On this day, in concert with the Muslim nations, the country's Jews will direct their anti-iniquity cries against all servants of imperialism and Zionism," according to a Fars News Agency report today. [...]
In other news on the "anti-iniquity" front, Hezbollah honcho Nasrallah has now received his very own olive tree, courtesy of some Palestinians. "The olive tree," we are told, "is a symbol of resistance in the Palestinian culture." And I bet you thought they were just good on pizza.

Palestine Telegraph: "Israel has nuked itself!"

Explosive revelations from the Palestinian press:
Could anyone imagine as a result of your own actions you are killing your own troops and your own population? This is now the case in Israel.

Many weapons used by the IDF in Gaza contained uranium components and upon impact set off huge volumes of aerosol particles that then drifted back over the border into Israel with devastating results.

It has been some time since the Israelis bombed Lebanon and the Gaza Strip and in both cases the weapons used left behind a trial of misery for all those that lived downwind. We can now start to see the results of those actions and I must say the term "What goes around comes around" rings true in the ears of the residents of Israel. Some interesting health statements have been released that prove when you play with dirty weapons it can all come back to you. It would now appear that we have a situation whereby Israelis are killing Israelis.

In May this year we saw the following headline appear in the Haaretz: "Quality of Israeli sperm down 40% in past decade" The quality of Israeli sperm has declined alarmingly in the last decade, according to recent research conducted at Jerusalem's Hadassah University Hospital, Mount Scopus. The cause for the decline is not known, but it's believed by some researchers to be connected to the exposure of children and pregnant women to hormones and other contaminants in food and water. [...]
But now we know the real reason. Elsewhere we learn that Haniyeh is releasing a bunch of those guys who think Hamas isn't radical enough:
De facto Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh announced that his government will releases dozens of detainees in the taken prisoner when the ultra-Islamic group Jund Ansr Allah (soldiers for god) took over a Rafah mosque and declared the city an Islamic emirate.

At least 24 were killed in the clashes, including two young girls who were bystanders, and an unknown number of the group's supporters were arrested in the days following the clash. During an Iftar dinner speech Tuesday, Haniyeh said the government had “decided to release dozens of detainees from the Rafah event on the occasion of Eid Al-Fiter holiday."

Haniyeh was breaking the Ramadan fast alongside a group of Muslim scholars, Imams, members of the Palestinian Legislative Council, district mayors and ministers in Haniyeh's government when he made the announcement. [...]
Not the sort of thing you want to announce on an empty stomach.

Can't . . . lift . . . this . . . brick: "Qods Day Slows Down Israel's Settlement Construction"

Endless stories about Qods Day continue in the Iranian press:
Demonstrations and rallies staged on the International Qods Day play a significant role in slowing down the pace of settlement building by the Zionist regime in the occupied Palestinian territories, a Palestinian legislator said on Wednesday.

"Holding Qods Day (demonstrations) makes the Zionists narrow down the executive domain of their projects for building settlements and the forced emigration of the Palestinians," Mohammad Shahab told FNA.

Shahab described freedom of Qods as a fundamental issue of the Muslim world, and said Muslims should pay attention to the Qods issue and assume it as their cause.

He also underlined that the Muslim Ulama (religious scholars and jurisprudents) bear a heavy responsibility in this regard and can play an important role as the issue pertains to the Muslim world before being an Arab issue.

"Holding demonstrations against the Zionists on the Qods Day has been an everlasting headache for the leaders of the regime and its supporters," Shahab added. [...]

The International Qods Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of Qods to Muslims.
Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad utters a sentence containing Iran's favorite word: "stances":
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday once again underlined that Iran will not back off from its stance against the bullying powers.

"The government and the Islamic Republic ruling system is resolved not to withdraw from the Iranian nation's honorable stances against global arrogances and to stand firm in this regard," President Ahmadinejad said in a cabinet session here in Tehran today, alluding to the goals pursued by Iran's recent proposals to the West.

Iran presented a set of fresh proposals to the six world powers last Wednesday.

The latest package of proposals which was presented by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki to the ambassadors and representatives of the six major powers paved the way for the talks and is an all-embracing package offering cooperation between Iran and the West on solutions to a wide variety of global issues.

The package was submitted to the ambassadors of France, Russia, Germany, and China, the British charge d'affaires, and the Swiss ambassador to Tehran, whose country represents US interests section in Iran.

The United States announced on Tuesday that it will send Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns to the talks between Iran and the six world powers on October 1, probably in Turkey.

Earlier, media advisor to Ahmadinejad Ali Akbar Javanfekr told FNA that Iran is a nuclear power and it will not tolerate threats from world powers when they discuss Tehran's package of proposals on October 1.

He also said that accepting the Islamic republic as a nuclear power was the "first step" towards normalizing relations between Tehran and Washington and other western states.

"Iran is a nuclear power. We won't accept any threats during the negotiations or even after. We want negotiations based on logic and international laws," Javanfekr noted.

"They have to accept a nuclear Iran and have to negotiate with a nuclear Iran."
The whole object of the negotiations is a non-nuclear Iran, so those "honorable stances" render the whole thing pointless. Do you suppose Obama will notice?

"Leader of the Revolution, Leader of the World Islamic People's Leadership" to join Obama at meeting

That's what his personal news agency calls him. According to Ynetnews:
One of the most difficult problems Israel is facing is Libya's dominance in the UN institutions, playing a key role. On Tuesday, former Libyan Foreign Minister Ali Treki assumed the role of UN General Assembly president, which he will fill for a year.

US President Barack Obama will chair a special Security Council meeting on September 24, and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is also expected to sit around the table, as Libya is the Arab countries' current representative at the Council.

Balance achieved

Juan Cole on the Goldstone report:
Both the Israeli government and Hamas rejected the report as biased, which is a pretty good indication that it is even-handed.
Juan Cole concludes that it is "even-handed." That's a "pretty good indication" that it's dreck.

Update: According to IRIB Radio, Haniyeh "welcomed" the report.

Further Update: Matthew Yglesias pronounces the Goldstone report "Not really unexpected, but good to have on record."

Further Update: Maan: "Haniyeh: World must back Goldstone's Gaza report"

Great Moments in Great Leaderhood

(North) Korean News presents a deeply moving story:
President Kim Il Sung arrived at the then Namchang Railway Station on his way of field guidance one day in August of Juche 62 (1973).

While talking with the officials greeting him, the President suddenly asked them the station name.

An official replied that it was Namchang Railway Station. The President asked again why it was named Namchang, saying that the name of the place was Pukchang.

Another official said that it was called Namchang Railway Station as it was located south of the then Pukchang Thermal Power Plant. After listening to him, the President told that as it was called Namchang, travelers to Pukchang might be confused.

Some days ago, students coming to the plant for study, unable to decide whether they detrained, had gone to the other station and come back to Namchang Railway Station.

Nevertheless, the officials had not thought they would change the name of the station.

Seeing through minds of the officials, the President said that if it was called Namchang Railway Station, the thermal power plant and other industrial establishments there should be named after Namchang. Then he suggested calling the station as Pukchang Railway Station.

The officials were deeply moved to see that the President paid deep attention even to the name of a railway station so as not to give any slightest inconvenience to the people.
Wow, he even paid attention to the name of a train station. No Imperialist so-called leader would do that!

Israel deploys WorldNetDaily against Iran!

Iran's PressTV has the scoop!
Amid heated speculation about the "secret" visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Russia and the pirate attack on a Russian freighter, a mysterious Israeli "secret weapon" has joined the arsenal of psychological warfare against Iran.

In an "exclusive" report, the WorldNetDaily website warns Iran of a "secret weapon" that Israel allegedly tested in great secrecy (except for revealing it on the internet!).

According to this report, Netanyahu's visit to Russia was, after all, routine and prearranged.

However, it was given a mysterious angle to what was really going on, namely super-secret weapons test to prepare for an act of aggression against Iran.

The repeated threats and talks of "secret" and "ultimate" weapons recalls the claims by Germany's Nazi leaders in their final days, as they tried to cheer up their all-but-defeated nation with such promises and even murdered thousands of civilians in London with their indiscriminate secret "Vengeance" missiles.

Unlike Israel, Iran's best defense does not rely on secret weapons, or unprovoked attacks against other nations.

Iran's ability to defend itself and its deterrent capabilities are known to public. However, above all that is the transparency of its peaceful nuclear program, which -- unlike Israel's -- is open to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s inspection.

But, the psywar still goes on.
Meanwhile, IRIB Radio has its own article on Fadlallah's recent pronouncements, complete with a different spelling of his name. Here "Fazlollah" is referred to as "Lebanon's senior most religious authority." For the Sunnis, too?
Lebanon's senior most religious authority, Allama Seyyed Mohammad Hussein Fazlollah, issued a religious edict forbidding any kind of ties with the usurper state of Israel. According to Press TV, he declared: "Normalization of ties with the Zionist enemy in any form is prohibited by the Shari'a."

He said in a statement issued on Sunday "We confirm that the fatwa against normalization applies to every Muslim."

The Allama added that the whole of Palestine within its historic borders is an Arab and Muslim territory and that no Arab leader has the right to relinquish even an inch of land that belongs to the Palestinians.

The fatwa was issued as US Mideast envoy George Mitchell is visiting the illegal Zionist entity to try to extract more concessions from the oppressed people of Palestine on the pretext of peace with the Israeli usurpers.
On the post-election front, a Fars headline reads "Detainee Underlines Westerners' Leading Role in Post-Election Frenzy":
An IT expert in the former presidential candidate, Mir Hossein Mousavi's election campaign, who was detained after Iran's post-election unrests, confessed to his crimes, alleging that he had been gullible enough to be deceived by certain western countries.

Speaking at the fifth session of court hearing for the post-election detainees here in Tehran this morning, the detainee identified only as A.A said he actions when serving as a member of the IT committee of Mousavi's election campaign pleased western countries who had designed the unrests.

"It seemed like I was on a train whose destination had been designed and specified by the secret agencies of the US, western countries, the Zionist regime and anti-Revolutionary groups," he said.

A.A also described the Iranian peoples' vigilance and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei's wisdom as the main elements which foiled plots against the Islamic Republic. [...]
Just the vigilance alone wouldn't have done it.

"Al-Gofra-Based Affiliates of Armed People Units Congratulate the Leader of the Revolution, the Supreme Commander of the Revolution Anniversary"

Great news!
The affiliates of AL Gofra-based Armed People units sent a cable of congratulation to the Leader of the Revolution, the Supreme Commander, Chairman of the African Union on the 40th anniversary of the al Fatah Revolution.

The affiliates said our victories which coincided with the anniversary of the blessed month of Ramadan and the anniversary of the conquest of Makkah reflect self-confidence and our ability to promulgate the Jamahiri thought.

They expressed their commitment to the revolution and the Leader.
"Jamahiriya" is explained by Wikipedia as "a neologism coined by Muammar al-Gaddafi . . . intended to be a generic term describing a type of state, like a 'republic ruled by the masses.'" That's what the "J" is for in JANA. I guess "Jamahiri" is an adjective form.

North Korea invents powdered CO2

Another great leap forward in the spirit of Mt. Paektu:
The Taedonggang Foodstuff Processing Factory of Pyongyang is producing quality carbonated fruit juice powder of various kinds.

The factory has developed a new type of carbonic acid gas collector and settled technological problems arising in all processes from processing, mixture and drying of raw materials to the packing of goods and thus put the technological process of manufacturing carbonated fruit juice powder on a higher scientific basis. And it succeeded in producing various kinds of carbonated fruit juice powder by an industrial method.

The percentage of carbonic acid gas contained in the carbonated fruit juice powder is more than three times that of the preceding one. The new one emits gas continuously so that it can keep fresh taste for hours.

The juice powder is winning great popularity among the drinkers as its aroma and color are equal to those of bottled carbonated fruit juice.
I wonder if they can carbonate goat's milk?
Kefir and other goat milk products are available in roast goat-meat restaurants in different parts of Pyongyang.

Choe Yun Hui, manager of the Kefir Shop under the Commercial Management Department of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, said that its district branch shops provide people with fresh goat milk products and increase their assortments to improve their dietary life.

The Roast Goat-meat Restaurant in Puksong-dong No. 1, Phyongchon District, serves ten-odd dishes such as kefir, cheese, roast meat with kefir juice, fried food mixed with cheese, fried potato and bread flour and goat-meat ball.

The kefir branch shops in all districts are teeming with customers of all ages.

Kefir stands come into being in streets of the capital to present a new scene this summer. [...]
The latest Haveil Havalim has increased its assortments to improve your dietary life.

Fadlallah clarifies that Israel's existence is the issue

This is about as clear as you could want. Fadlallah should be assumed to be speaking for Hezbollah, Iran, and a large segment of the "Muslim street" here:
Lebanese religious leader Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah issued a religious decree prohibiting any effort to normalize relations with Israel.

In his momentous decree Fadlallah emphasized on Palestine's integrity and said, "The entire land of Palestine within its historical borders is one Arab-Islamic country and no one has right to spare on inch of it. This decree is addressed to all Muslims. "

"It is necessary for all Muslims to enliven the Palestinian cause, and look into it from a religious viewpoint." [...]
Another Qods Day has come and gone. While we're visiting IRIB, another headline proclaims, "Qods Day breaks Israeli image of invincibility":
Head of Intifada and Holy Qods Central Office said the Resistance victory over Israel that broke the regime's image of invincibility is one of the blessings of the Qods Day.

In a press conference in Tehran, Ramadan Sharif talked about late Imam Khomeini's ingenuity and the results of his wise decision. The last Friday of Ramadan is named by the Founder of the Islamic Revolution late Imam Khomeini as the Day of Qods.

"The late Imam's wise decision has turned (liberation of) Qods to the major issue of the Muslim world," Ramadan Sharif said.

He added that Imam's action made the way to reveal the Zionists' atrocities and all free thinkers of the worlds become more sensitive towards the Palestinian cause.

"With the warm reception of the Day of Qods by the Muslim world, Israel faced many challenges. Many countries were forced by the people to limit their relation with the Israeli regime," Ramadan Sharif said.
It always has a nice totalitarian ring when some grand fearless leader's idea for a demonstration is accorded such "power."

"radical change from the vision provided by all philosophers and social theorists and even women's movements"

The actual title of this is "Historic meeting held for comrades of the Leader of the Revolution, historians and followers of his struggle and achievements across 50 years under the slogan 'Muammar al Qadhafi in loving eyes'. .. 9th Addendum." Unfortunately, Blogger won't allow titles this long. Anyway, "the philosophical vision for women as human beings" was originated by Gaddafi:
Dr Salama Abdul Jabbar revealed the philosophical vision for women as human beings in the third chapter of the Green Book. She said that this was a radical change from the vision provided by all philosophers and social theorists and even women's movements all of whom were trapped in reactions and responses for the inequality between men and women.

Dr Faiza Al Basha a professor of law in Libyan universities spoke in the meeting and revealed that her generation was brought and educated on the thought the Third Universal Theory of Muammar Al Qadhafi.

She said that the revolutionary upbringing of this generation provided them with independence and personal freedom because the thought of Muammar Al Qadhafi is based on dialogue, freedom of expression and human rights. She said that the main characteristic of the thought of Muammar Al Qadhaif as thinker and leader were ensured by the leadership criteria which is embedded in his personality.

Dr Faiza Al Basha also highlighted the extent of interaction between the vision and the philosophy of the Leader, Muammar Al Qadhafi, and the legislative side and noted that in many cases the jurists failed to draft such thoughts in the legislative framework.

She said as lawyers we shoulder part of the responsibility in not being able to absorb these concepts and these visions and transform them into a legal reality.
The world will never catch up with Gaddafi.

"Invulnerable Fortress of Socialism"

Welcome once again to the Kim Jong Il Show! Today's episode, as always, is brought to you by the Songun Idea and the Juche Idea:
The Group for the Study of the Juche Idea "Kanggye" of Colombia issued bulletin entitled "Invulnerable Fortress of Socialism" on August 31 on the occasion of the 61st birthday of the DPRK.

The bulletin in an article cited facts to prove that the DPRK, founded on September 9, 1948, has demonstrated to the world its might as an invulnerable fortress of socialism as it has a transparent guiding idea, tremendous national power and rock-firm mass foundation.

Since its founding the DPRK has dynamically pushed forward the socialist cause, guided by the Juche idea, Songun idea propounded by President Kim Il Sung who is father of nation building, the bulletin noted, and continued:

General Secretary Kim Jong Il formulated the Songun politics as the main political mode under socialism as required by the prevailing situation and fully applied it to all fields, thus making it possible for socialist Korea to firmly protect its sovereignty and dignity.

The bulletin recalled that political forces in the society of the DPRK have grown strong remarkably and it successfully launched satellite Kwangmyongsong-2, consolidating its position as a satellite launcher, and built by dint of tremendous military power reliable war deterrent which no formidable enemy dares provoke.

The DPRK government is absolutely trusted and supported by the people, it stressed.
The latest Haveil Havalim also has a transparent guiding idea, tremendous national power and rock-firm mass foundation.

Update: The latest J-Pix was built by dint of tremendous military power.

PalToday: "Hamas calls off female lawyers Islamic dress code"

Interesting, no?
Hamas authorities on Sunday called off a decision ordering female lawyers to observe Islamic clothing during their work in Gaza courts.

"The decision regarding ordering female attorneys to wear the headscarf when they appear in courts is rescinded," said Abed al-Raouf al-Halabi, the supreme court chief justice.

Al-Halabi said in a press release that his previous order was "a personal initiative" by himself to ensure that women could be covered up by "wearing the Islamic al-Hijab according to Islamic rules."

Al-Halabi's July decision sparked an outcry from rights group which said that ordering female lawyers to wear a loose robe and cover their heads was a violation of the Palestinian law.

The protests by human rights organizations have also resulted in Hamas education ministry's denial of issuing an order for female students to wear Islamic gown at secondary schools.

New York Times can't quite express it clearly

The New York Times currently has an article about how Hamas isn't forcing Islam on people except when it is. One paragraph presents Hamas thinking on ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict:
It rejects Israel’s right to exist and remains doctrinally committed to its destruction. However, its leaders have said several times that if Israel were to leave all land taken in the 1967 war, Hamas could accept a Palestinian state limited to the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, depending on the terms of a truce.
"Depending on the terms of a truce"? The New York Times itself fairly recently reported on an interview with Khaled Mashal in which we learned that the truce would only last 10 years. Hamas officials have been expressing their "acceptance" of two states in these terms for years. There is no "However." Expect continued failure by Western journalists to be as clear as Hamas has been.

Vahidi: "Zionists' Psycho War Pushed Back by MPs Strong Vote of Confidence"

Vahidi, as the article itself points out, is wanted by Interpol for the AMIA bombing:
New Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Sunday described the strong vote of confidence given by the Iranian MPs to him as a good response to the Zionist regime's psychological war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"The parliament's high confidence vote (to me as Iran's defense minister) shows the Iranian MPs' emphasis on the strengthening of the Islamic Iran's defense power and development of its deterrence power," Vahidi said.

He further underlined that the move by the Iranian lawmakers "defused the world Zionists' negative propaganda and psycho war" against Iran.

Iranian lawmakers voted overwhelmingly on Thursday for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's pick for defense minister, with 227 MPs casting their ballots in favor of Vahidi.

Western and Israeli media reports claimed that Mr. Vahidi is wanted by Interpol in connection with the 1994 bombing of a Jewish cultural center in Buenos Aires (AMIA), which left 85 dead and wounded more than 300 others.

Iran has strongly denied the allegations, saying Alberto Nisman, the prosecutor of the case, has received huge sums of money from Jewish lobby groups in Argentina to accuse Tehran of the bombing.
At IRIB, we learn that Lebanese Shi'ite leader who-of-course-has-no-connection-to-Hezbollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah is similarly concerned about "western media warfare":
Lebanese Shii leader Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadhlallah said some regional and international powers are engaged in media warfare against Islam which is more dangerous than military warfare.

In a meeting with IRIB delegates, Fadhallah urged Islamic media fight back by producing cultural products.

"By using new technologies and (mastering) art, Islamic media should produce programs which are authentic and credible so as to boost unity among Muslims and fight superstitious beliefs." [...]
Aha! That's why the Supreme Leader has been meeting with poets:
[...] Ayatollah Khamenei approved recent poetic developments and said, "Everything (in today's poetry); its diction, meaning, rhythm, choice of words, and imagery are signs of a fruitful movement in the poetry of our country."

The leader of Islamic Revolution referred to post-revolution (1979) poetry as a continuous movement towards new heights in poetry and said, "The poetry of revolution has successfully passed the exams and should continue this way till it achieves all the goals of the revolution."

"The goals of our revolution are like bright stars, high in the sky. They show us where to fly," Ayatollah Khamenei added. [...]
The article, entitled "Goals of our revolution are like bright stars," is accompanied by a swell picture of the Supreme Leader (actually an animated gif, but you'll have to go here to see it in action.):

Chavez: "The real democracy is the one that's contained in [Gaddafi's] Green Book"

Chavez was just in Tripoli giving a "lecture" at the "International Centre for Green Book Studies." Amir Taheri recently commented "Gaddafi has committed a 'Green Book', echoing Mao Zedong’s 'Little Red Book', full of gems that would make even the Chinese Communist despot sound profound." Don't tell Chavez. If JANA, Libya's news agency, is to be believed, Chavez declared that the Green Book is the repository of "real democracy":
President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela said his country has made big strides towards execution of direct democracy. Several Communes had been set up in different parts of the country as well as popular councils and committees and revolutionary committees, he said.
Revolutionary committees! What could be more democratic than that?
This was announced by Chavez in a lecture he delivered at the International Centre for Green Book Studies and Research in Tripoli on Tuesday.

Chavez was in Tripoli to participate in the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of Gt al Fatah Revolution. [...]
Big JANA stories tend to be published in installments. Here is the "1st Addendum":
President Chavez praised in his lecture the Leader of the Revolution stances and struggle throughout the phases of the revolution which steadfasted all challenges posed by reactionary forces..
Gotta steadfast those challenges if you want to have a "Gt" revolution.
"The real democracy is the one that's contained in the Green Book .. through the popular rule not the popular expression.", Chavez said.

"The green book reached Venezuela in the seventies where it was subject of study by many of Latin American revolutionaries.

He praised the achievements realized in Libya under the Gt al Fatah Revolution both internally and externally.
In more great news for progressives, Chavez also visited Iran:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a joint meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Saturday that the era of world arrogance has ended and the anti-imperialism bloc should be supported.

"Helping deprived nations against imperialism is the mission of Iran and Venezuela," President Ahmadinejad reiterated. [...]
Of course, the fight against the World Arrogance begins at home and ends in Honduras.

More great culinary leaps forward

The DPRK is on a roll lately--with a side-order of quail:
The Okryu Restaurant on the bank of the River Taedong flowing through Pyongyang serves quail dishes from September 1.

The dishes are served at room No. 2 of the main building.

Available there are not only roasted quail, fried quail, steamed quail stuffed with glutinous rice and quail wonton but also famous Pyongyang cold noodle, mung-bean pancake and others.

The quail meat contains protein, fat, carbohydrate, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, sodium and others.

The quail egg is richer in nutritive elements than the other poultry eggs. It is efficacious for the treatment of diseases such as hypertension and puerperalism.

Chief Engineer Ra Suk Gyong told KCNA that the restaurant serves quail dishes under the popular policy of the government, adding:

The restaurant, which has been famous with Pyongyang cold noodle, gives greater pleasure to the customers with tasty and nutritious quail dishes.

We will further deepen the study of quail cooking methods and increase its assortments in order to serve people more quail dishes.
They should try Gold's Quail Sauce.

Someone at D-Kos explains how to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Why didn't I think of it?
[...] In order for the Palestinian people to ‘let go’ of all the bitterness and resentment they feel now and start having positive feelings of friendliness for the Israelis, it is absolutely essential that they be able to walk away from the negotiations table feeling as though they had won a tremendous victory. They need to end up with a settlement that is so incredibly generous, and so filled with face-saving Israeli [and American] concessions, they won't be able to contain their joy at their good fortune. They need to feel as though they have won a great victory and their Muslim sympathizers around the world need to see that the Palestinians are delighted with their good fortune.

What the Israeli people need to understand is that this is the kind of Peace Settlement they are going to want the Palestinians to end up with because it is the only kind of settlement that is going to give them the Lasting Peace---the freedom from fear---that they truly want. They need to change the hearts of the Palestinians with something dramatic. The Israelis will know that they have finally achieved true peace when they start seeing smiles on the faces of the Palestinian people, smiles that reflect authentic feelings of gratitude and friendliness toward them. [Orange sentence bold in original] [...]
So Israel could repeat the Camp David offer and throw in a few cases of Johnny Walker?

IRIB: "Kadhafi: Africa's woes stem from Israel"

Here at World Zionist Conspiracy Headquarters we are very gratified at this authoritative testimony to the great work done by our African division:
Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi blasted 'Israel' at a special African Union summit on Monday for causing all the woes facing Africa.

'Israel' is "behind all of Africa's conflicts," Kadhafi told some 30 African leaders gathered at Tripoli airport for a summit focused on solving the continent's trouble spots, including Sudan's Darfur and Somalia.

Earlier Kadhafi demanded the closure of all Israeli embassies across Africa, describing Israel as a gang and saying it uses "the protection of minorities as an excuse to launch conflicts."

He said that a Darfur rebel group had opened an office in Tel Aviv while its leader lives under French protection, a reference to Sudan Liberation Army chief Abdelwahid Mohammed Nur who lives in exile in Paris.

"As African brothers we must find solutions to stop the superpowers who are pillaging our continent," he said.
Gaddafi said all sorts of other things at this summit. At JANA, Gaddafi's own news agency, these remarks are covered in an article called "Chaired By Leader of the Revolution, Chairman of the African Union Proceedings of the AU Summit for Resolution of Conflicts in Africa Kicks Off in Tripoli...13th Addendum." I guess the remarks covered by the first 12 addenda just weren't as deeply meaningful to the folks at IRIB as the ones on Israel. Fars also has an article of Iranian-African interest: "Central African President Felicitates Ahmadinejad on Reelection":
President of the Republic of Central Africa Francois Bozize congratulated his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his reelection for a second term.

"The Iranian people expressed their total confidence in you by their brilliant choice and I am confident that the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries will further develop in accordance with the two nations' interests," Bozize said in his message. [...]
The bit about the "brilliant choice" just made those two paragraphs so worthwhile for me. Meanwhile, at PressTV we learn about other places reached by Zionist tentacles: "Sarkozy, Merkel under Israeli influence: Iran":
Iran says remarks made by the French and German leaders on Iran's nuclear issue show the influence of Israel's 'aggressive' stance on Paris and Berlin.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel repeated their calls for tougher sanctions against Iran in a Monday meeting in Berlin.

"We are sorry to see their [Merkel and Sarkozy's] remarks [on Iran's nuclear program], instead of being based on legal grounds, they [the remarks] show how under the influence of the aggressive policies of the Zionist leaders they are," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Tuesday. [...]
Zionist stock is selling briskly.
